![]() A custom deck made of cards from two Trial decks can actually hold its own fairly well in a tournament setting, but you'll still want to upgrade it with booster set cards sooner or later. Trial decks tend to have stronger cards, but you'll have to buy 2 of them to get full sets of all the necessary ones. In terms of power, the Starter decks will all be more or less equivalent in strength, mostly because none of them do anything fancy (good for basic practice, but you won't be winning any tournaments with them). These decks do not come with full sets of certain staple cards, though, such as the perfect guards. ![]() For example, Gear Chronicle has two trial decks, one that focuses on "Rewind" (controlling the field by sending your opponent's cards back to their deck) and one for "Time Leap" (upgrading your own units that have already attacked in order to get more attacks). Trial Decks are more suited to teaching a player the nuances of a specific clan. ![]() Starter decks are designed to help new players learn the game, and come with everything you need for a functional deck (such as full sets of Perfect Guards).
